When people come into the bakery and say they are trying to be gluten free I have to ask them what they mean by “trying”. They proceed to explain that it’s just so hard to eat gluten free all the time. So, they do the best that they can until….. well, tempted.
Isn’t that the way we all are? We do fine until… tempted. Whether it’s food or something else. That is what makes us special. The right to chose. You can chose not to buy that thing that is screaming for you to buy it. Because, in the end it’s just more stuff. Stuff doesn’t really make you happy. Same can be said with eating another brownie or a bag of chips. You know you shouldn’t, and yet you do anyway.
Like with anything we have to have will power to say NO to temptation. It’s even more so when you are on a gluten free diet. Cheating on a gf diet is about as bad as cheating on anything. You are going to feel guilty and like total crap if you do. Did you know it takes a good 21 days to detox and remove the gluten from your system? Yep, it’s quite a process. It’s like the person who diets and eats well all month just to gorge herself at the end of the month. Kind of counter productive don’t you think?
Why am I telling you this? Because I am hoping and praying that you will WAKE UP and stop trying and start DOING! If I can, you can. Once you are a real gf doer, your life is going to change. Change for the better. You will think clearer, have more energy, less achey and don’t even get me started on how much better your intestines are going to feel. Yes, this is for those who do not have a diagnosis, but are teetering because they are sensitive to gluten.
No more Detours! Eat clean whole foods, no processed foods. Even if they are GF, processed is processed and are still horrible for you. Next, start cooking and baking like grandma used to do. No more mixes, just scratch cooking. If that’s just not something you can swing then come get breads and goodies like this incredible brownie from our bakery & cafe. Order if your not local. Either way, you can do this and you will be all the better for it.
Advice from me to you, with love.
